| This widely-graded contour trail was built to construct and maintain the triple-valley network of Waiahole Ditch's underground water tunnels. Hike in and out of numerous gullies while traversing the backs of Waiahole, Waikane, and Kahana Valleys. |
|
Description: This trail was originally built to support the construction and maintenance of the Waiahole Ditch - a collection of water tunnels excavated deep into the Koolau Mountains in the back of Waiahole, Waikane, and Kahana Valleys. It, like the camps of Waiahole and Waikane, has long since been abandoned to the clutches of landslides, overgrowth, and forests of fallen trees. What to Expect: The ditch trail receives some traffic throughout each year but has not been actively maintained for many decades.
